Luis Cañas Rioja Crianza 2009, produced in the Basque Country´s province of Alava, has been voted as the best value red wine by U.S. wine magazine Wine Advocate.

The wine is a blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha aged for 12 months in French and American oak, with thin shades of plums and wood.

Popularity for the wine, produced in the Luis Cañas winery in Villanueva, is such that the winery has not been able to cope with demand.

In 2008, Luis Cañas was awarded best winery by Gourmet, and in 2010 world famous chef Ferrá Adriá chose Luis Cañas for its projects.
