The Guggenheim Bilbao has become the first museum in Spain to make use of an application developed for iPhones. The app will enable museum-goers to plan their visits, check programmes and current activities and download more than 300 images, videos and audios. The existing application will shortly be followed by similar ones developed for Smartphones on Android and iPad.

The tool can be downloaded from the on-line App Store for a price of just 2,99 euros and is available in Spanish, English and French.

Thanks to the application, users can make an extensive visit of the museum''s artwork because it also includes all recordings from the audioguides.

The application is divided into five sections: One, dedicated to the museum, offers comprehensive information regarding the history of the museum, Guggenheim''s network of museums and maps and links with social networks, while another section focussing on agenda contains the programme and provides access to the programme of temporary exhibitions.

Another of the sections provides information on the building, with images and videos regarding its construction from start to finish and information about the architect, Frank Gehry.

The collection has another space containing images and detailed records about the works, artists biographies and audio and video files regarding selected works.

The last section, dedicated to the visit itself, offers practical information about opening times, as well as the option to complete both pre-programmed and personalised routes.
