Forget about the bikini, trikini or burkini. The ''facekini'' seems to be the latest trendy alternative, at least in China.

The main objective of the thousands and thousands of Chinese people who go to the beaches in Qingdao or Dalian is to enjoy themselves but avoiding the direct contact with the sun at all costs.

Chinese people like their white skin and apart from applying sun creams and taking their umbrellas to the beach, there are also some of them who wear what we call ‘facekinis’: a light mask made with swimming cloth that avoids the sunrays touching the skin.

A woman wearing a ‘facekini’ in one of the best beaches of Qingdao assures that she wears the mask while she is doing stretching exercises together with her husband and that it is very comfortable and a lot of people use it.

Cloudy days are the favorite ones for Chinese people to go to the beach and nobody is surprised when seeing someone wearing a ‘facekini’ .
