In a survey carried out by eitb.com 42% of Athletic Bilbao fans taking part said they did not want departing striker Fernando Llorente to stay on at the club, compared to 37% who would like him to stay.

After Monday’s press conference with Athletic Bilbao club president Josu Urrutia there was a palpable change of heart among fans.

Prior to the press conference, the majority of eitb.com users taking part in the survey said they hoped Llorente would stay on at Athletic. But following the declarations made by Urrutia, the majority of fans voted in favour of the lion king’s almost certain departure.

Meanwhile, another 10% of those surveyed said they wanted Llorente to stay on at the club but earning less money while 11% said they did not care either way.
