The 58th edition of Donostia-San Sebastian''s Zinemaldia kicks off on Friday September 17th. To get spectators in the mood, EITB will be presenting a documentary directed by Diego Galán entitled Una historia del Zinemaldia on the eve of the festival-opening. The documentary premier will be held at the Gipuzkoan capital''s famous Victoria Eugenia Theatre.

Over the decades, an array of international stars have visited San Sebastián while generations of spectators have enjoyed its films. But what factor turned the city into a benchmark for cinema?

The series produced by EITB attempts to unveil some of the difficulties experienced by the festival over the years. It uses original interviews, archive material and film clips to recall some of the most significant political and social chapters of the past six decades during which the festival has run.
