Marlaska ordered prison without parole for the Pro-Amnesty lawyer, accused of belonging to the armed group, following a favourable application to the EU.
Spanish National High Court judge Grande-Marlaska has ordered prison without parole for Joseba Agudo, a Basque lawyer and member of the Basque Pro-Amnesty movement. Agudo, who was handed over by French authorities last Thursday, stands accused of forming part of the armed group ETA, court sources have informed.
Marlaska took the decision to imprison Agudo after an appeals court in Bordeaux (France) voted in favour of an application for a European detention order from the EU made by the Spanish National High Court.
The French court based its decision to support the application on documentation that was seized in Bordeaux during the arrest made on "Thierry", the suspected head of the armed group, carried out on May 20, 2008.
