Rufi Etxeberria assured that the statutes of the new party would contain a clear rejection of the use of violence and threats as a means of achieving political objectives, including by ETA.
Basque nationalist leftwing representative Rufi Etxeberria announced on Monday that the group''s new political party would oppose the use of violence and threats,"including by ETA". The new formation, indicated Etxeberria, "will neither justify nor defend the use of violence, by whomever it is used."
During an act carried out in Bilbao''s Euskalduna Palace, in which the new Basque leftwing group was presented, Etxeberria assured that the formation had decided to comply with the Parties Law, despite being against its enforcement in principle.
Etxeberria described the Basque leftwing''s latest project as "an historic step" and said that it had "at its core" a "firm commitment to political and democratic means," as well as to "a complete absence of violence".
He insisted that the Basque leftwing had made a "firm and unwavering commitment to pursuing a purely political and democratic course, withno turning back".top stories
